IMPROVING PRIMARY CARE ACCESS FOR OUR PATIENTS
FROM APRIL 2017
In line with Government policy, we are working with Rushcliffe’s Partners Health (a consortium of locally based GP’s) to provide patients with a greater range of access to General Practice appointments. This will enable access to General Practice services every day of the week, including on Saturdays and Sundays. Castle Healthcare Practice will be extending its out of hours access arrangements from April 2017.
Saturday and Sunday appointments will be available from the beginning of April to enable you to see a General Practitioner and/or Practice Nurse at the weekend, as well as in the week. There will be appointments available between 08.30 and 12.30 on Saturday and Sunday. Initially this service will be based at Gamston Medical Centre, but it is planned to move this more centrally within West Bridgford as soon as possible.
During the week, Castle Healthcare Practice is contributing to a rota of available appointments between 18.30 and 20.00. These extended hour appointments are provided on a rota basis between Castle Healthcare Practice, East Bridgford Medical Centre and Keyworth Medical Practice. For the next 6 months Castle Healthcare Practice will provide these appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (when the rota changes the website will be updated). On Monday, Thursday and Friday these late appointments are available at the other centres detailed above.
Our patients can book into any of theses appointments both at our Practice and at any of the locations detailed above. Appointments will be bookable in advance via our Practice Reception Team, please telephone or visit the Practice to book these appointments.
On Monday - Thursday evenings from 18.30 – 20.00 we will continue to provide our exclusively Practice based extended hours appointments. On Fridays the surgery will close at 18.30.
The changes to patients’ access to services will be closely monitored to ensure they are working for patients. Further details about improving patient access to services can be found at www.partnershealth.co.uk.
The National Diabetes Audit: helping to improve diabetes care.
Castle Healthcare Practice is taking part in an important national project about diabetes care and treatment in the NHS. The project is called the National Diabetes Audit (NDA).
To take part, your GP practice will share information about your diabetes care and treatment with the NDA. The type of information, and how it is shared, is controlled by law and enforced by strict rules of confidentiality and security.
Taking part in the NDA shows that this GP practice is committed to improving care for people with diabetes.
If you do not want your information to be used, please inform the receptionist, your GP or nurse. This will not affect your care.
For further information about the NDA please follow the link below:
Did you know you can book GP appointments, order repeat prescriptions and access other services on-line 24 hours a day?
First you will need to obtain a user name and password from the doctor or receptionist. We may need to see photographic ID to allow access.

Welcome to Castle Healthcare Practice
Welcome to Castle Healthcare Practice, we provide primary care services for West Bridgford and the surrounding areas. We hope that you will take your time to browse our website where you will find lots of useful information about the Practice and the services that we offer.
Castle Healthcare Practice is a teaching and training general practice located on Wilford Lane in West Bridgford, Nottingham. We are open 8am until 8pm Monday through to Thursday and 8am-6.30pm on Friday. Our Doctors, Nurses and Administration Team aim to offer the highest standard of patient- centred healthcare.
The Practice has mixture of male and female GPs who all provide pre-bookable appointments, telephone appointments and same day appointments. All same day appointments are dealt with via a telephone triage process and if it is deemed necessary a same day appointment will be booked with an appropriate medical professional.
We offer a range of appointments with our Nursing Team, these are provided by our Nurse Prescribers, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomists. They provide appointments for chronic illnesses such as Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Heart Failure etc. We are fortunate to be able to work in liaison with specialist Diabetes nurses and Fracture nurses, who come into the Practice and provide services direct to our Patients.
The practice benefits from having other aligned services that work within the Practice; they are services such as Ultrasound, Diabetic retinopathy and Aortic Aneurysm Screening. These are all services that are provided on site, which prevents patients having to travel to secondary care to receive this treatment.
There is also a 100 hour Pharmacy, a physiotherapy service and a coffee shop on site.
The building is fully DDA compliant. The Practice benefits from having a lift which provides access from the car park into the building, we also have ramped access into the main entrance and all of the building is wheelchair accessible.
We have 119 car parking spaces at the practice and have dedicated parking bays for cycles and motor bikes. The Practice has partially funded the Local Link buses within West Bridgford area which regularly pick up and drop off at various locations around West Bridgford, including the surgery.
We are confident our website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to the very latest in Healthcare News.
The practice offers easy access for patients with mobility difficulties. The surgery has a ramp at the main entrance and automatic opening doors to the waiting area to allow for wheelchair access. There are designated disabled car parking spaces in the undercroft car park adjacent to the patient lift. There are disabled access toilet facilities with a distress call point.
For patients who are hard of hearing, a hearing loop is available.
